 Science & Technology

Working with students to integrate science and technology is something that I feel very strongly about. My dream is to build science concepts while using technology to springboard student's creative and critical thinking skills.

Virtual Tour for Earth Science Lesson Plan

Google Classroom

Here is a look at my google classroom please use my unique code: ifmrxyv

In google classroom we explore 8th grade physical science by asking the question "Do Earth's spheres interact?" Students are encouraged to collaborate and research ideas using technology platforms. In this lesson students will understand the concept of a "System" as it applies to Earth, identify & analyze how matter and energy change throughout the cycles in the systems.

Creating Google Forms:

Google forms are great to use in the classroom and below is an example of one I've created to get to know the students and caregivers so we can be a successful team in learning together.

Getting to know the students and caregivers

Google slides
A great tool to use technology for science! Here is an example of a lesson plan for Earth & Space Science for 8th grade class. Students analyze and identify characteristics of land formations through geological processes. Click here: Earth & Space Science

Screencastify

This link will provide a sample for a screencastify session I recorded to dive deeper into land formations with my students. I feel this was a great way for visual examples during the class and provide multiple resources. Click here: Land Formation

Google Sheets:
Here's another look at expanding teaching with technology by using Google Sheets to create lesson rubrics. This example ties the virtual tour lesson into the rubric used for student evaluations. Click here: Rubric

Google Site:

Creating a google site for students to collaborate and actively work on assignments is the easiest way to incorporate technology & Science. The site provides an additional resource for students outside of google classroom but can adapt since it is program under the google software umbrella. Open education resources

Uses a multitude of resources allows students to explore science at its full potential. Here is an example of using open education resources to develop a lesson plan for real world solutions: Urban & Rural Erosion

Digital Citizenship
It is important to include digital citizenship in our use of technology and to promote positive and reliable content on the internet. This is an example of a lesson plan for students to expand upon sound scientific research while being safe. Click here: Digital Citizenship
Using modern technology as an outreach tool, this lesson plan is a YouTube video that allows students to learn about cultural relative connections and history in successful generations.
